Stress, Overload, and a More Sustainable Life
A place to begin
You do not need to work everything out before you start. Begin with the first module, and take it in manageable pieces. A short visit is welcome.
Module 1 · What Am I Carrying?
Describe one demand alongside the capacity, support, authority and cost involved before deciding what it means about you.
No assessment or written answer is required. Module availability and access appear on the next page. Download any unsaved writing before leaving a worksheet.

Begin with Module 1 and continue in order so the earlier learning can support what follows. You can spread the work across visits.
- Module 1: What Am I Carrying?
Describe one demand alongside the capacity, support, authority and cost involved before deciding what it means about you.
- Module 2: What Keeps Me Carrying It?
Distinguish chosen values, genuine obligations, anticipated consequences and familiar roles, then revise the account using your own evidence.
- Module 3: What Can Change Around Me?
Identify a demand, resource or arrangement that may be changed, and distinguish personal influence from another person’s authority or a need for shared support.
- Module 4: Making a More Workable Agreement
Make and review one specific request, commitment or limit that accounts for the whole responsibility, available capacity and the other person’s actual response.
- Module 5: A Life With Room to Live
Use actual learning to make a sustainable plan for contribution, recovery, support and what matters, with a clear way to revise it.

My learningA pathway for adults
Stress, Overload, and a More Sustainable Life
Understanding the load, finding support, and making room for the life you want to carry forward.
You may be managing a great deal and still feel that you should be doing more. You may love some of what you carry and be exhausted by the amount. We can begin by understanding one ordinary demand, without deciding in advance that the answer is better coping or a stronger no.
This pathway makes room for work, money, health, care, practical obligations, culture and relationships alongside emotional learning. Some responses may have a history. Some pressures are happening now. Your own account can change the explanation.
Begin Module 1 · Optional reflection first
How the learning works
The five modules move from describing the load to understanding why it continues, examining conditions, making a workable agreement and reviewing what can be sustained. Every module includes noticing, an explanation you can correct, a bounded experiment, its actual result and a revised next step.
Begin with Module 1 and continue in order if you are new. A concern can show where the pathway may lead without replacing earlier learning. Returning learners can intentionally revisit a module. No assessment, personal writing or completed experiment is a prerequisite.
Each module has a flexible 90-minute core with an optional extension up to 30 minutes. These are planning guides for reading, reflection and practice across visits. A short visit, fictional example, external attention, no writing or stopping can fit. The aim is a more workable relationship with the actual life, not a demand for permanent balance.
BKL offers educational learning rather than individualized therapy, diagnosis or medical assessment. Persistent or unexplained changes in health or functioning deserve appropriate care. A workplace or relationship that punishes ordinary requests may require confidential individual support rather than a joint exercise.
