Worth Beyond Usefulness

Broaden the sources from which self-worth is experienced.

Preview the learning approach before purchasing

This module is for adults wanting to practice the goal above in ordinary, manageable situations. No prior assessment is required. If inward attention or relationship exercises feel destabilizing, choose a smaller step or seek individual support.

Sample reflection: Think of a mild recent moment when your usual response took over. What did you notice first? What did you do next? What is one small choice you could rehearse without needing another person to change?

Practice with a fictional situation if you prefer. You can skip any activity. This sample shows the teaching approach; the complete lesson and exercises are included with purchase.

Learning with choice and care

For adults 18 and older. These clinically informed resources aim to deepen self-understanding, expand emotional and relational capacities, and support meaningful change through guided reflection and everyday practice. They provide educational support, not diagnosis, individualized treatment, or emergency support. Purchasing or using them does not by itself establish a therapist–client relationship. Existing therapy arrangements remain governed by their separate agreements. Responses are not individually reviewed by a clinician.

This reflection cannot establish the origins of striving or treat a mental-health condition. Experiments with rest or enough should respect health, work, financial, and caregiving obligations.

Pacing, relationship safety, and urgent support

Choose ordinary, manageable experiences. You may skip, adapt, or stop any activity, keep your eyes open, and use an external point of attention instead of focusing on your body. No traumatic-memory exploration, forced disclosure, or particular feeling is required. Stop if you feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or less able to function; seek appropriate professional support. There is no required pace or guaranteed outcome.

Find your footing: choose a brief grounding practice (opens a new tab)

Joint work requires freely chosen participation and safety. Do not use joint exercises where there are threats, coercion, intimidation, violence, or fear of retaliation; seek confidential individual support instead. A shared pattern does not mean equal responsibility for harm. You need not share answers, accept touch, forgive, reconcile, or return to unsafe contact. Boundaries coexist with accountability and legitimate responsibilities.

This website is not monitored for emergencies. In the United States, call 911 for immediate danger or call or text 988 for crisis support. Elsewhere, contact local emergency or crisis services.
